Living History with the Hardee Guard Battalion and the 48th Alabama at Kennesaw Park
This past weekend ,I had the honor to fall in as a guest with the 48th Alabama/Hardee Guard Battalion.
This came about as I was working once again in Conyers, Ga this summer and brought my Confederate kit with me, hoping to do some living history. I finally hooked up with Ranger Jake Bowling at Kennesaw Battlefield and he in turn asked their coordinator for the event if I could participate.
Their event was a mixture of Federal and Confederate , demonstrations in front of the museum, then several stations both in and out of the museum. A major effort by this group, no small undertaking and presented to the public by them in first class style. (See pictures that follow)
I cannot express my thanks to Mark for allowing me to participate and especially Caleb and Stephen, who I fell in with and did uniform talks with....and yes , I did fire my weapon and drill as well.
It was a chance to finally use my beautiful Cook and Brother Rifle that David at Lodgewood had made for me back in 2014.
I can't say enough about these men and their unit, top drawer and first class does it best. I also enjoyed the best way. From the invite to eat barbecue with them on Sat night to eating a Late lunch at Steak n Shake as we departed for home.
Thanks Guys....your hospitality and comradery will be long remembered.
Enjoy the photos, Mike
UNFORTUNATELY........for some reason ,I cannot download the photos, never had this problem before, sorry everyone.
