plain collodion expiration

I recently bought 1 liter of collodion and it came with an expiration date.
I was under the impression that plain collodion, kept in its bottle would last without problems. I know that I will use it up well before the date but would like to be better informed about the process.

thanks,
Charles

If its in glass it will last longer. I've had collodion in tin cans turn old on me. Not a problem with glass. (Usually use up a bottle in 6 months or less).

I cant give much input on storing plain collodion for long periods because like Chris said I too use it up before the expiration date.

Ether will go bad pretty fast if not kept pretty cool.

I keep my plain collodion, salted collodion and ether in a small refrigirator when its warm.

I have 1 liter of plain collodion left from a large order I made almost 5 years ago... It was from Mavidon and I immediately decanted it out of the tin can it came in (they use aluminum now), into glass and it's been working like a champ ever since... No worries...

Make sure it's sealed tight (I turn the bottles upside down after I fill them to let a little collodion seep into any spots where it might not be completely sealed), and that the storage bottles are clean. Rust from keeping it in a can is your enemy...
