Mid-West Wet Plate Collodion Workshop Robert Szabo will be holding a Wet Plate Collodion workshop at his studio in the Arts Incubator, Kansas City. We will be working in a large indoor area with plenty of natural light. Participants will be guided step-by-step through the wet-plate collodion process to make ambrotypes and tintypes. Included will be instructions on mixing chemicals and advice on equipment use along with the manual, “The Wet Collodion Plate - 16 Steps to making the Plate” by Will Dunniway. You will be able to make a tintype of yourself to take home by the end of this workshop. All equipment including camera will be provided. You will not need to bring your own gear. The costs for this two day course will be $350 and includes the lab fee. Lunch is provided. Housing is your option. If you would like housing recommendations please ask. Private tutorials at the SCULLY AND OSTERMAN studio. Experience 19th Century photography, hands-on in the Historic Process We can take students on weekends and weekdays and will tailor the program to your needs. Either first timers or more advanced work and trouble shooting. You can shoot inside the skylight studio or in the field with a portable darkroom. Use original equipment from ninth plate up to 14"x18" mamouth plates. Negatives for printing out, lantern slides, collodion positives and all of the variants of the process. Come a day early and make an appointment to see the amazing collection at the George Eastman House Museum. Prints (over 4000,000) by most of the collodion era photographers, collodion negatives, ambrotypes, daguerreotypes and tintypes.
