Gettysburg (Pennsylvania Monument)
Overview NR large Camp of Instruction and Gettysburg National Park Service Living History Event. Volunteer living history groups visit the park for the weekend with demonstrations of camp life and drill of the Civil War period. The NR camp and programs at the Pennsylvania Monument, Auto Tour Stop No. 12. Location Pennsylvania Monument, Gettysburg National Park Schedule May 19: 0700 - NR will establish a Camp behind the Pennsylvania Monument Infantry Company and Battalion drill, demonstrations and living history events. The camp should be at least laid out by Friday evening, but if it isn't, just roll up in your blanket and bivouac it for the night. May 20: 0900 - Infantry Company drill, but mostly Battalion drill, demonstrations and living history events. Description Role of rank and file: Mid-war Federal infantry Uniform: Forage cap and fatigue coat Equipment: Heavy marching order Quartering: Shelter Tents Ammunition: 40 rounds Food: No cooking in Park. Bring individual cooked Campaign rations for noon meals, others local establishments Registration Information: Please notify your Corporal by May 4 so we can let the NR know how many we will be so they can organize the companies.
