McDowell
May 6-8, 2005
Overview
We have been
assigned to portray the 25th Ohio Volunteer Infantry at the Battle of McDowell.
The event is located on the original battlefield site amidst the scenic
Allegheny Mountains in Highland County, Virginia. There will be a
reenactment with public battle on Saturday and a "reenactor-only" battle on
Sunday, re-creating as closely as possible the historic scenario.
Realistic interaction between military and civilians, portraying the citizenry
of McDowell and surrounding areas. Use of historic buildings and sites
which figured in the Federal occupation, battle, and Confederate "liberation" of
the town. Unlike prior years, we will have a stationary camp with "A"
frame and/or Sibley tents (no shelter halves) and all the trappings of a lived
in camp.
