Brian Pohanka's countless contributions in the field of historical research has helped with the success and recognition of the National Regiment since its inception. His efforts on and off the field have given every member of the National Regiment reason to be proud of this organization.
Brian worked as hard to preserve a battlefield as he worked to preserve the memories of the soldiers who fought and died in the service of their county. To him, they were connected, and only by saving both, could we truly learn from and do honor to, the people and events of the past that shaped our nation.
Because of this important work, the National Regiment honored Brian Pohanka with a special Soldier of the Year award in 2004.
