Here are some of the basics:
When: From Saturday at dawn November 1, to noon Sunday, November 2, 2008
Where: near Upperville, VA
Why:To raise money for the battlefields at Fredericksburg, Virginia; Franklin, Tennessee; Loudoun County, Virginia; and Wilson’s Creek, Missouri.
Every participant is expected to cover their responsibility to this preservation event of raising a minimum of $100.
Goals: 1.) To get several hundred authentic participants to generate thousands of dollars for battlefield preservation. 2.) Have several immersion experiences of limited hours. 3.) Interact with the public in a program on Saturday afternoon, and possibly Saturday evening. 4.) Socialize with friends Friday and Saturday evening.
Scenario: The beginning of the Fredericksburg, Campaign, near Upperville, Virginia; on the 146th anniversary. We will be on the same ground as the original troops were.
Impressions:
Federal infantry portraying the 7th Indiana Infantry of Hofmann’s Brigade of the 1st Corps. Enfields, 4-button sacks, and frocks, forage caps, doublebags. Federal Cavalry – more information coming later.
Confederate horse-drawn artillery. Confederate cavalry. Some few Confederate infantry.
There will be much more information on impressions under scenario and authenticity guidelines coming later
Pre-registration: All pre-registration will be handled through the website. I am asking that you send me $20.00 to cover insurance, firewood, port-a-johns. All funds left over from registration will be added to the overall amount raised.
There will be authenticity standards similar to what there was in 2000. Regardless of the preservation fundraising aspects this is not "come one come all".
