You are ready for this! I'm selling this 16X20 star camera company camera. It has been used but not very much. I recently bought it and then ended up buying a larger studio camera right afterwards. I can't afford to keep both so I am selling this one. I would love to keep it. For the plate sizes it shoots, it is amazingly portable. I can carry it around by myself easily. It comes with

Wow, that would be fantastic. I actually might have a friend in town who could give me a ride there. If you are sure that would be ok, go ahead and private message me your phone number, address, and e-mail address so we could work out the details. Take care! Noah

Thats about how long I've been a frequenter. I really appreciate your offer, only problem is I'd have to find a way back as well. And, unfortunately my plane leaves at 630 in the morning on Monday, I doubt anyone else will want to head back that early. Thanks for the tent offer too, I think he has tents or tepees to sleep in as well, I might just crash in one of those. I'll be looking around

Just thought I'd check on the off chance someone else was going to the John Coffer workshop coming up this next week. I'm flying into Rochester on the 16th, if anyone else is we could share a rental car. Unfortunately I'm leaving VERY early on the 20th. I'd e-mail John to get the other peoples contact info but you know........

Hello All. I'm selling this globe portrait lens. It is a lens that I purchased on ebay a few months ago. I bought a few different lenses to use with my 8X10 star camera company camera. I don't need all of them so I am selling this one. I figured I would offer it up here before putting it up on ebay. There is a slot for Waterhouse stops, but no Waterhouse stops. But, as you are probably awa

Hello all. I hope everyone is well. I'm just getting started making images, working through my mistakes, all that fun stuff. I'm using Coffer's old workhouse collodion, mixed and sat for a few days, his posotive developer, and the potassium cyanide fixer. All the chemicals were from artcraft. Anyway, I've shot a series of plates twice now with some success. One of the plates has a nice crea

Neil- From what I have seen I would guess the lack of bidder names has to do with price and not time, and its usually in these last hour(s) that the prices rise dramatically. I could be wrong though. A nd, I agree completely, the IDs should be plainly visible and ebay is a greedy monster. But, that's what money does I suppose.

You know what.....I think this is something ebay does if the auction exceeds a certain price. I just looked at two auctions, both ended, one that sold for about 50 dollars and one that sold for over 200. The over 200 one was listed as "bidder 1, bidder 2..." and the other was listed the old way. So, not much help for most of the treasured lenses.

That's strange, I spend a lot of time on ebay and I've never noticed that. I actually just looked at at 10 or 15 auctions that were still active, all of which were within an hour or a couple minutes of being over, all of which showed the IDs of all the bidders. Maybe they have changed back.

Just out of curiosity, what sort of optical characteristics does such a "globe lens" achieve?

Wow, that is something. You'd think he would at least try to be more more secretive with his scamming. I remember reading about a car dealership (or something of that sort) that actually had legal charges brought against them for bidding on their own auctions over the years. fyi-ebay does still list the names of bidders bidding on auctions unless the seller has listed it as a "private auctio

Hello all, I'm on the lookout for one or two Dallmeyer, voigtlander, etc. lenses (or something else from that period) to use on an 8X10 camera from the Star Camera Company. I'm looking for one that has at least a few water stops, focus setup, and mounting flange and is in good condition. Naturally I'm looking to ebay as well, but if anyone can help please do. Thanks
