a stretch for me.....

For those that know me...looking at these images will be a shock! You cant imagine how difficult it was for me to shoot these.....

Deliberate use of old material....really working to create distress with my pours (collodion and developer)...handling the plates roughly (before and after collodion)...it was tough...mentally. The collodion was next day extra dry from Ray's formula...mixed back in October...developer was my sugar recipe from back in October...really orange! Fixed in cyanide. Shot on trophy plate...1/2 plate.

Project for a show based on the theme "Spoken Word and the Music of Life."

This ought to really throw the gallery viewers for a loop....vastly different from the other work that will be displayed....and vastly different from what I usually shoot.

THis was really, really hard for me....

Im not sure how I will display the 3 images....maybe like this, but they may be separate.

enjoy....well....Im trying to.

Hmmm...looks good. I get a Jesus Christ Superstar meets the Incredible Hulk feel from these... Congrats! I've always though that a sign of a true master of this process is the ability to create those effects on purpose. You did it wonderfully!

Thanks for the comments guys. I hope that it is recieved well...

How do you think it would look printed as it is in the post....all 3 images on one print?

I would probably print it pretty large....20X30 or 30X40.....no mat, just framed.

If I do not print them together as one print, I would print them roughly 11X14 and then 16X20 for the tree shot....white mats black frames.

Never done this before so Im not sure how to display them.

Chris,
What media will you use to print these?

Im gonna use standard printing paper from my lab. These are scanned from trophy plate, dust-spotted and such. Fuji paper is what the lab uses.

Id love to print them to canvas, but I just do not have the time, or money. I have had several clients have images printed onto canvas and it is amazing.

Ive debated shooting the next series on trophy or glass negatives, as I may like to display the originals as well as the printed piece.....

If the next series are shot as negatives I will be print them on either albumen or fiber paper...depending on who I can get to print them and the cost associated with that.

If they are shot on trophy plate, I will just scan them and have them printed by my lab.

You can mount them like this: Frame out a larger rectangle of black velvet. Set the plates in location as you have them. Wire in through the corners to hold them on.
