Re: wet-plate publication

You have no idea the work putting a magazine out is. I wish I had never taken on the task. As it is I'm planning on in about 2 years doing a wet plate issue of Emulsion. I want that long of a lead time so I can have enough time in my mind to learn it.
Oh as an aside I have sunk over 40K into getting the magainze started. I still dump in around 2 to 3K every few months. Maybe someday I will get paid back some of that money, but I'm not holding my breath waiting. You'll find photographers are the worst critics of anything to do with reproductions of photographs. Every single person has their own idea and will if hinted at give you a long and lengthy diatribe about what you did wrong, without them knowing what it took to get it to that point in the first place. Doing a good job on producing a magazine is one where you can't just slap it together in photoshop and print it on your home printer. If you want a newsleter that is another matter. Then comes the bite of the mail. When researching the postage costs I was told at the USPS to send the magazine overseas would be at most $5 each. Well the cheapest I have found so far is $7.95. Ok guys sorry about the mini rant. Magazines sound good and fun, but they are a royal PIA.
