Having viewed the parade as a spectator this year I can attest to the tremendous enthusiasm and support the crowd has for the veterans and living historians as they pass by. This is an effort that is truly appreciated and it would be an honor to join you guys in '08.

It will be an honor to have you, and feel free to bring friends. One day we are going to have a full battalion, and then Doug and I will feel we have done our duty to honor those who marched down Pennsylvania Avenue in 1865, and those who did not.

We will gladly fall in with civilians if they will have us. The kids would love to be in a parade.. and Kevin would love to MARCH!

I think -- but Doug Dobbs would know better -- that civilians may be able to march with the SUV. For our part, since this is supposed to be a military parade, I think our unit is just going to be men in uniform, as would have been the case in 1865. I suggest waiting for his official reply.

I was there last year with you & Doug & the others in the Federal ranks. It was definitely one of the more meaningful events I went to last year, and I hope to make it again this year ...although other strings already attempt to pull me thither.
I would like to encourage others with a good Federal impression that can make it to do so. I think it's a safe bet that afterwards you'll be glad you did!
