Your presence, in whatever capacity, is always welcome, my friend.

If you go to my web page and scroll down, you'll see the maps and schedule up there from five years ago. We'll be on the same route and timetable, by date, not day. If they're not clear, let me know.

I'll be sure to be in touch before we set off, of course!

Blessed Christmas to all!

Doug

Default Updates

Sorry for the lack of updates folks, but I've been behind the curve. A bad bout of bronchitis has laid me low this spring. I'm way behind the training curve, but hope to catch up in the next few weeks. We'll see.

First item: National Memorial Day parade.
If you can make it out to this event, it would be a great chance for us to put names and faces together and begin to build some cameraderie for the 'big push' in June. See thread elsewhere in this forum for details, or check my website, which IS up to date on this event.

Second item: National Civil War Music School.
If you'd like to lend a hand on guard duty for this, there are still slots available. Registration deadline is past but I think we can arrange to get you in if we sweet talk Jari. The registration fee is a bit steep but it includes five catered meals and you won't have to clean your musket when you get home. Think about it.

Third item: website update
Realistically, looking at my calendar, I probably won't be able to update the Sixth Corps pages until after June 2. However, if you access the Sixth Corps March pages from five years ago (www.dougdobbs.com and scroll down) you'll see almost all the info you need. We're basically doing it all over again, same dates, same route, same stopping spots. "Same, same, all same," to quote Hop Sing. The only major change is that the days of the week are slightly off, but the number dates are what you see listed. We're following the script of the original cast. If you're looking to arrange time off work, use those dates, that's when/where we'll be. If you want to attend At High Tide, we'll do our best to assist you in that but can't guarantee transportation at this point. Several want to do this, so you're not alone.

Fourth item: cost
I'm asking that folks kick in for the costs involved, mostly food, water, permits and gas for the chase car. I calculated those out to be around $13 a day per person. If we run short, we may pass the hat, but that should cover us I think. As I say on the site, bring cash to buy some treats along the way, the old boys did.

Fifth item: Local interest
I've got contacts out working on the historical associations along the route, hoping to drum up some local support. I'd like to see some civilians cheering us on along the way.

Sixth item: PR
Anyone with experience writing press releases who'd be willing to help out, please contact me. I'd like to get this effort on the radar screens for the newspapers and electronic media.

If you have a specific question, post it on here and I'll do my best to answer it in a timely manner.

(Three Rousing) Cheers!

Doug

Mike,

I'd be honored to have your company for as long as you feel able to do so, my friend. Or as long as I feel able to keep up with you...
