Yerby,

You are more than welcome in the company whether you wear drawers or not. I'm certainly not going to ask to see them. But, as mentioned they are nice to have and will be an extra layer for warmth, especially at night.

If you have a greatcoat, fine. If not, I've got one I'll loan you if you wish. It's a size 48 and I won't be using it. I've got a civilian overcoat I'll probably carry.

Your scabbard will be fine. If your musket is not defarbed, that is fine.

This is the kind of event that is good for someone wanting to try a little bit more of the campaign style of reenacting. We want to be as authentic as we can, but it is not a "Bummers". In this case, desire and attitude will certainly outweigh minor flaws in your kit.

I am working on doing some horse trading and I may very well have a decent Greatcoat by that time.

I attempted to make a pair of Drawers tonight but I see they suffer from "Days Inn" syndrome so I may attempt another pair later this week.

I look forward to late January.

Cloth would be the preferred strap, as leather ones had mostly ceased being issued by late 1862 to early 1863. As with drawers and scabbards, its not a breaking point to keep you out of the event. All of these minor fluctuations in gear and clothing are there so that people are better able to experience what these soldiers experienced during the war, and material culture is one of the easier fixes. When a reenactor takes care of the little things, often the bigger items come with it...

Ross,

You know you don't have anything to worry about with me when it comes to authenticity.

Default Yippeeee

Registration in mail today for Company D.

Drawers are made and not too shabby I might add. Great coat is on the way as I scooped up a used Blockade Runner off the gear list here.

I am really looking forward to this as I can't attend Seccesionville this weekend as my nephew has his Eagle Scout presentation and I would be excommunicated from the family if I missed.
