A group is forming at Historic Fort Abercrombie. The "Garrison" is open for multiple impression types. Right now we have cavalry and infantry. One of our members is interested in acquiring a mountain howitzer, so artillery may be in our future. We also have civilian reenactors. Anyone wishing to portray Sioux impressions are most welcome.
We have participated in Boy Scout jamborees, town festivals, parades, etc. We also go to reenactments aside from Ft. Abercrombie.

Viceroy,

I maybe able to give you some information regarding at least one Uniform Item they could be wearing.
My Great Grandfather was in Company F of the 1st U S Volunteer Infantry Regiment stationed at Fort Wadsworth. A little farther south from Fort Abercrombie where Company A of this same Regiment was stationed.
This was a Galvanized Yankee Regiment, the first of six Government authorize regiments formed from various Prisoner of War Camps.
These soldiers came from Point Lookout MD and were formed and fitted out in Norfolk, VA.

My Great Grand father was at one point find 57 cents for negligently loosing his Hat. The 57 cents was not for the Hat itself but rather for the hard wear on the hat which would belong to the Company CO. All the hard wear is described right down to the Ostrich plum feather. The lost hat could only have been the 1859 Dress or Hardee Hat.
Now Company A's uniforming could have been a bit different as could be the case with each of the Regiments 10 Companies, but because all 10 Companies were formed up within two months and all in Norfolk, VA. I would think they would be very similar.
I hope you find something here that is useful to you,
