I'm thinking that if it were to happen, the first time I try this would probably be infantry and dismounted cavalry impressions only as most could pack the necessary gear for that impression in their luggage without any special shipping or storage needs. For those of you who think people bring to much gear to reenactments this venue would definitely force more people to pack a proper light marching order and live more true to campaign style during the event.

Whether or not the full fledged event will happen, I am still in the process of planning for our small group here a living history style camping trip for our local reenacting group during the kid’s winter break from school so they can come along for the experience. The idea would be to set up the military camp and live as close to period style as we can muster for at least one night and 2 days with a modern camp area off to the side seperate from the civil war area for those family members who just want to watch the fun. Probably won’t have anywhere near enough people for a battle but it should be a good weekend camp life event. I still have to finalize the date but anyone that would be in the neighborhood around that time would be more than welcome to come along.

Sorry, but our group is way too small and there probably isn't enough spare gear among us to outfit anyone so you would still have to bring your own stuff. The location I'm looking at is the Kuuloa Valley. This is the valley that was used in the big assault scene in the movie Windtalkers, just for a reference for those who aren't familiar with the area.

Adam,

Brah, if was going be dere.. no worries! One thing you might try as far as a truly authentic CW event there would be to do a Naval living history, since Shenandoah made a chase up a river, I think on Mau'i or Moloka'i no can remembah what Island, but it will come to me bumbai...days with a two year old can really make you lolo... I think the HI CWRT could give you some good info on that one
