    Default Gettysburg?

This year will be my first time going to a national event. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect at the Gettysburg reenactment.

You might be better off going to Manasass (as far as national events go), because it is the 145th Anniversary.
Apparently the Gettysburg this year is on the same ground it was in 2003 and it was NOT a good recreation of the land where the Battle occured.

    Gettysburg a "national" event?

    Not this year.

The "nationals" this year are Manassas and Perryville.

    Default uh

    Very colorful folk.

Civil War atmosphere, kinda, well not really. Civil War battles, uh, well not really those either.

Oh yeah- BLEACHERS! I can promise at least 1 set of metal bleachers and kettle korn.

That you can go to the bank with, uh, if you have any money left after they rip you off.

    Glad to be helpful

If your going mounted then I'll second the 1st Manassas vote. Word has it they'll be 200+ mounted troopers there.

If you want to "see the elephant" go to Manassas at Cedar Creek this year. Next year, go to Gettysburg -- or better yet, wait until 2013 and see what the good Mr Anders can cook up for a new, improved Gettysburg.

I am also going to Cedar Creek this year. But I wasn't aware of how the Gettysburg reenactment worked, being I have never seen the reenactment myself. I have only been doing this for about a year now.

deffinately go to manassas, they are expecting a great turnout, maximum 13,000 reenactors i think? correct me if im wrong. But its a good event, the ground is good, and it has good "civil war" atmosphere. Its the 145th anniversary too. Believe me, you may not be as familiar with the name Manassas, but it will be a MUCH better event than ANY of the Gettysburgs.
