Default Powder Burning at Sept Storm

Can a couple of Union privates give me an idea of how many rounds they went through at September Storm?

Making up cartridges now but I've got to cover both AHT and GAC and I really REALLY don't feel like doing 1000000 cartridges just to be safe. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to bring to GAC but I suspect I won't need nearly as many at AHT.

    Thanks in advance.

As I recall, we were informed that 120 rounds would be a good number, but I ended up coming home with a goodly supply left.

I think I took about 80 rounds to September Storm and ended up coming home with a few still in the cartridge box. Ofcourse I did take hits during all three battles.

I am planning on taking an even 100 next weekend for AHT, probably won't need that many but just want to err on the side of caution (I really hate bumming cartridges) and it is a nice even number.

    Default Cartridges

My guys used 80 rounds on average at September Storm, half of them at the Saturday Dusk Battle. I recommended they bring at least 100 rounds to AHT.

Well.....you could look at what your regimental impression for each of the scenario's calls for.....The Iron Brigade regiment's went through well over 100 rounds each on July 1st for example. Plan on when you are going to take a hit (if any) for each scenario and adjust your load accordingly.

I always get a kick out of the argot 'powder burning'....they called it fighting/firing/shooting.....maybe we should too. hmmmm, battle reenactment not a living history....maybe they actually fired off a lot of rounds?

    RJ,

the only problem with that is we aren't depicting everything the Iron Brigade did and we won't be fighting as long and hard as they did. I am guessing it would be near impossible to tell how many cartridges were fired by each man of the 19th Indiana Co. C as they came upon the ridge over looking the wheatfield and opened fire on an advancing Confederate battalion. Although we would come pretty close to having that information thanks to Tom Venner of the 6th OVI (who will be there with us) who has done immense research on the regiment and even compiled 2 books on them.

    Default well...

Scenarios are a bit longer at AHT-

Depends on your portrayal- anywhere from 80-200 would be a good guess---

    Default Thanks Guys

I keep quite a store in the supply wagon (read car) but since I march in and oit with everything on my back I'd perfer not to pack an extra poke bag or go back to the car if I can avoid it.

Seems like 120-140 would be a good figure to be on th esafe side.
