    Mike,

Why not just contact Tim Bender?

I will have to second Brian on this one. Tim makes the most accurate hat on the market today and his prices are affordable to boot!!!

Just out of curiousity, how does Dirty Billy's Hardee stand up to Mr.Benders?
What is there about DB's that is not authentic?

    Thanks for any insight...

    Kevin,
The only noticable difference is the way in which the crown label is affixed. Tim uses the correct glazed label that was used for fancy books of the period while Billy uses a glued on sheet. At least the one DB I have seen is much like this.
    Hope this helps,

http://www.authentic-campaigner.com/...ight=dress+hat Post #15 of this thread gives a side by side comparison of Mr. Benders vs. Mr Wickham. To summarize, most of the differences are quite small in the scheme of life as I own examples from both. I'm more sentimental about my Dirty Billy hats, but the Bender dress hat is a fine piece of work as well.

In comparing the two with who makes the better Hardee, I am much more in favor with Bender's make. Both are great makes, but Bender's seems to have a better look as well as quality. But, though not mentioned, if down the road you are looking for a good forage or kepi, DB is the way to go. I cherish the forage cap I have.
