Default Ballestone Manor Essex ,Maryland A Call To Arms! Sept 27th-28th 2008

    Hello To All,
My name is Jason Moorhouse, I have been reenacting now for about 17 years. My first event I ever saw was a small local event outside Baltimore my grandfather took me to at Ballestone Manor. A fair sized event with about 300-400 troops per side with a few artillery pieces thrown in for good measure. This event was once a great event drawing good sized crowds and a very much anticipated event on the community side. Myself and my unit the 4th US Regulars Co. I have taken it upon ourselves to get this event back on the map where it should be. The unit and myself are currently laying the crucial groundwork for this event so it does not virtually vanish again. I will be in charge of registration which will be 8.00 a person and 10.00 for walk-ons. Myself and a few friends have been working on the grounds cleaning up the campsites and breastworks that have become overgrown. Baltimore County Recreation and parks has given me the green light, so everything is a go. Any and all units are welcome and local Maryland units are encouraged to come. Please feel free to e-mail myself at jmoorhouse@ellicottcityasc.com or call me with any questions 443 866 7878, concerning registration or any other concerns I will be happy to talk with everyone, because in the end we are the ones that are going to make this event great again. Once again the dates are September 27th-28th 2008, so let's get the registrations rolling.

Once again I thank all of you for your time and support.
    Sgt. Jason Moorhouse

I'm sorry I forgot to mention that a call to all sutlers as well as troops is needed, and anyone that has done the Ballestone event in the past knows it's a great event and a nice battlefield and camping area.

    Thanks again Jason Moorhouse

Is it possible to move that date? There are two other events already that weekend within a 3 hour drive.

Also, what is the event going to offer in terms of rules and regulations? Expectations? Specific scenarios?

the only other dates they will allow will be the 13th and 14th of September, i was not aware I apologize of conflicting events that weekend and i will do whatever it takes to get this event off the ground again, as to what scenarios we will be doing , we were thinking of the Monocacy campaign, with battles on Saturday and Sunday along with a Saturday evening tactical.
Rules and regulations are being fine tuned and will be set in stone after a meeting with my unit at the Neshaminy event.
So if that is easier I will set the dates to September 13th and 14th.
    thanks again Jason Moorhouse

Great show of teamwork by adjusting the date.

    Default New plans....

Met with the Ballestone preservation group last night and they want to gear everything up 4 next year instead of this year, they want the dates to be the weekend following easter from what i understand. So now I have a whole year to get this event fired up, and recruit some good units to come help support us.

    thanks to all
