    Default Directions on how to post a picture

    I noticed that there have been a few people here on the forums who wanted to post a picture but didn't know how. I talked to the mods and they gave the ok for me to make a thread on how to post pictures.

    1) Right click the picture you want and save the photo in the "My Pictures" section of your desktop.



    2) Then go to photobucket.com to host the picture. Click on the browse button to find the picture you just saved. After you find it click on the upload button.



    3) The last code it list ([IMG] code) is the one you want. Copy the code then paste it on here and it will give you a picture.

    Of course for small file photos the easier way is just to (a) click on the little paperclip picture at the top of a response window (b) fill in the window "upload file from your computer" by using the browse button to the image file on your computer, then (c) finish with the upload button.

    You can click on the little "close this window" when you're done.

    I've done that here in a few seconds, see the period range finder drawing attached.

    Now that I can understand.
    Now if someone would take me by the hand and walk me through the partial quotes section like the one done on posting pictures, that would be great.

    When you want to reply with a quote, just hit the "Quote" button at the bottom right (your right not the screen's right) corner.

    That will open up a reply window/box with the quote in it. Left click and drag over the portion of the quoted test you do not want. That will highlight it. Then click on your keyboard's "delete" button. Poof. (unless you deleted the quote or end quote brackets portion of the quote.) If you want the whole thing, leave it be.

    There might be an easier way, but I am computer illiterate and a Luddite.

    (More times than not, I just left click and drag, ot highlight the portion i want form the original post, and cut and paste it in my reply- because I think it is faster than editing a long post for only the bit or bits I want.)

    I'm sure there's any easier way to do multiple post then the way I'm going to explain but this is how I do it. I open a word document and copy and paste the quotes I want to respond to. Then I go back and forth copying an pasing the quotes from word to here and respond to each person.

    Howdy,
    Every time I try to send or post a picture that I have taken with my digital camera,the picture is absolutely massive.....you have to scroll left and right and up and down to see the whole thing.How can I reduce the size of a picture that I want to post? I save the pictures on my computer.I have looked and looked to try to figure it out myself, but the more I look the more clueless I realize that I truly am.

    Default How to reduce the size of a picture--easily!

    John,
    The easiest way I know how to reduce the size of a picture is to open it with the Paint program. Then go to "Image," then "Stretch/Skew." You can adjust the size by whatever percentage you want. I usually start with 50%. If that is still too big, undo it and try 25 or 35%. But you always want to undo it first before trying another size because if you reduce it to 50%, then 25% (of that 50%), you will lose a lot of the resolution. Save the reduced picture to your computer (I use 50% in the filename, to keep it separate) then upload from there.

    You have to resize the image before you save it to a host like photobucket.Your best bet is to use a photo image editing program. My sister is a photographer and she has a few photo editing programs like Photo Impression 5 and HP Photo Smart Express. I don't know if there's another way of doing it but I've always used those windows programs to "photoshop" pictures.

    You can use paint but it sometimes it looks all messed up afterword. its an easy way to do it yes but it might get messed up and look distorted.

    How do i send a pm to the moderator?
    The first step is to determine who the moderator is for the conference you are interested in. When you first open up a conference, you can go all the way down to the bottom of the page where on the right you will see a box listing the moderators for that conference. If you then click on one of the listed names, you will then be taken to that moderator's public profile from which you can send your PM. If you happen to know the moderator's username (I am moderator for the Military & Other Business conferences, Spinster covers the Civilian conferences, 5strings covers the Musicians conference, and "Doc" Nelson covers the Medicial conference) you can just use the PM function, start typing in the username and as you are typing the software will show you the only valid names with that starting combination. Also remember, the Provost is by default a moderator for all conferences including those for which no other moderator has been assigned.
