I just finished reading the "Civil War on the Missouri-Kansas Border" by Donald L. Gilmore for the third time since it first came out (2006). I can't get enough of this one. I think if you don't know what happened out here between 1848-1860, you don't know half of what the war was about. The first shots were fired here, not Charleston! Anyhow, I am predjudiced to my home-state, but if you get a chance to read this, it is worth the time. This is the first time I have read a truly objective view of the facts as they happened, not tainted with predjudice from one side or the other. Check it out!
