Post 2nd US Cavalry -- Southeastern Wisconsin

    Small print reads:

    BE A CIVIL WAR RE-ENACTOR

Persons of good moral character are welcome to apply! No horse required. The 2nd US Cavalry is a family-friendly group which means that dads, wives, kids, grandparents & friends can all participate in the "Civil War Reenacting Hobby". We strive to promote good Christian moral, ethical values in a fun environment! Our Cavalry group is divided into two Companies; Company E, known as the ‘Dismounted Skirmishers’, and Company A, which cosists of our mounted troopers. Anyone not wishing or unable to portray a Civil War Cavalry Trooper can still join in the fun by wearing period clothing in camp. There are fun and educational activities for all ages. We do living history displays, horse cavalry displays, small arms displays, participate in authentic Civil War battle re-enactments, and camp in some of the nicest parks God created! Many of the events have regimental balls where everyone wears their finery and dance to the Virginia reel, catillian, grand march, and other Civil War era dances. On evenings when there are no scheduled events, we sit around the campfire and chat and listen to old time music played by our members.

Our group doesn't charge any monthly dues or have any monthly meetings. And we only require that members attend one event per year to remain on the roster. there is no need to bring or buy anything for your first event. One of our troopers will take you under his wing so you don't make a mistake of buying the wrong things, items you can't use, or pay too much for! If you wish to participate in the battles you will be trained in drill, tactics, and weapons of a Civil War Cavalry Trooper. Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian – and must be 16 and have a valid hunters safety certificate to participate in the Battle.

If interested in a no obligation tryout at one of our upcoming events please visit http://groups.msn.com/2ndUSCav/homepage1.msnw for an online application. Or contact Ron Hegy by phone at: (262) 673-5494 - or by Email to: annhegy@hotmail.com

"But in the end, it's the history, stupid. If you can't document it, forget about it. And no amount of 'tomfoolery' can explain away conduct that in the end makes history (and living historians) look stupid and wrong. "
