This came in email to me and I post it here for general knowledge and interest. I know nothing more than what you read below:

    --------------------------------

There is a group of accomplished civil war miniaturists who have donated some of their works for an auction to benefit the restoration and preservation of the forage cap and vest of Lt. Col. Lucius Fairchild. Lt. Col. Fairchild was wearing the cap and vest when he was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg, and it is currently in the collection of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum in Madison, Wisconsin. All profits from our auction will be donated to the museum for the restoration, preservation, and display of these artifacts.

Some of your readers may be interested in these items, and all of your readers will certainly be interested in the effort. Full details can be found in the news posting on these 2 sites:

    http://artistpreservationgroup.com/auction.htm

If you find this of interest, could you please post the information to your site so that your readers can find out about it? Thanks.
