A friend of mine was visiting her relative down there earlier this year and was warned to make reservations very early if she plaining on coming down that week-end. Evidently, the grapevine down there has the National event actually being allowed on the battlefield! Not sure what is going on, but I have to wonder with the declining NPS budgets, someone either at the battlefield or within NPS has looked at the way Cedar Creek has been able to use large reenactments as a means to raise operating and acquisition capital.

I don't know about next year, but this year the WIG, Stonewall Brigand and PLHA are putting on a good sized living history at the National Battlefield in September this year. It will have companies portraying both AOT and ANV units. Here is the website for more information http://www.westernindependentgrays.o...2007/index.htm

I had a chance to visit the Chickamauga battlefield last year for the first time and was very impressed. In fact I would say it's the nicest of all the battlefields I've visited to date.

    Question

Looks like there are no guide lines for federal troops, one side battle?

Since this event is on a National Park and they do not allow opposing fire, this is a one sided living history event. Though it will be a mobile event. We will be marching to various locations at the park to recreate the movements of the men during the battle.

There was some scuttle but about a battle last year. A Church owned some property that was either near, or on part of the original battlefield, not in the park boundaries. I've heard nothing on it since.....

Well I can say that the Park will not be holding a Battle Reenactment, I work for the NPS at Chickamauga, and we havent even come up with what we will be doing Living History wise for next year. As to the other event, I dont know, there really isnt anything afoot that I have heard about and getting enough land to hold a big event around here is next to impossible, there were problems the last time and there is even less undeveloped pieces of property now, case in point was the already mentioned event on the Church property, and now that land is being developed into a subdivision.
