Default Welcome to the Flags & Statues Conference

This conference is for discussing the preservation of flags of the period, and statues (and other memorials) that commemorate the American Civil War. Political discussion is not the focus here, but will be allowed as long as it is polite.

Charles W. Canney Camp No. 5, SUVCW in New Hampshire started a project 4 years ago to help communities in New Hampshire raise funds to restore their Civil War Monument, Cannons, plaques, etc. and we are on our 3rd monument with another being discussed.
We ask the town to help us raise the funds and not by raising taxes. We also get the school children involved it is great PR and they will be the ones to care for the monument in the furture.
We have a conservator who will inspect the monument then write a report on what is needed to clean or restore the items.
Monuments that onces cost about $3000 to erect are now between $20,000 - $100,000 to restore.
