Default Key wind pocket watch FS

I have a key-wind, key set 7 jewel Elgin 18-size Model 1 watch for sale, running strong and keeping good time (within 4 minutes per 24 hours). This is an ideal "reenacting watch" for several reasons. It is essentially identical to a pre-1865 dated watch, in appearance and function. The serial number dates the movement to 1885, but it is a Model 1 which was produced from the 1860s to the 1890s without any significant changes. Elgin did not start making watches until 1867, but the dial is unsigned so there is no way to know that this is an Elgin unless you open up the back of the case to check the movement.

The nickel case is period-correct, with hinged bezel. The original thick crystal has some scratches, but I've polished the crystal with cerium oxide to remove most of the minor surface scratches that make the crystal cloudy. Case has some minor dents and dings.

An original pre-1865 watch in good running condition will start at about $350 and if you carry one to reenactment events, you're braver than I am. This watch is the very next best thing, kind of like a "de-farbed" musket is the next best thing to using an original.

I have thoroughly disassembled, cleaned, and oiled the piece. With reasonable care, it should give good service for quite a while.

I will include the key for winding/setting the watch, and instructions/information for winding, setting, and caring for the piece. Using an original watch requires more care and effort than using a battery-operated Wal Mart pocket watch, but for authenticity and just plain coolness, it's definitely worth it.

I am asking $150 shipped by USPS Priority Mail. Please add 3% if using PayPal. Send me a PM or email me at pgbearcat@msn.com

As my spare time allows, I might have another watch or two ready to go soon. Let me know if you're interested.

    Thanks,

    Brett
