Liberty Hall volunteers

Hello all.
I am trying to get a kit together for a private from Co. I, 4th Virginia infantry (the Liberty Hall Volunteers). These young men were from Washington College, which would become Washington and Lee University (my alma mater).

Specifically, I am curious about trousers. What color material did they use? I have been able to find references to local ladies making their trousers, and I believe they were able to get their hands on some cadet trousers as well. But again, what was the color?
