Something to sleep on
Something to sit on
Something to keep stuff in.
Now, what that encompasses depends on the social status you portray.
A bed can be as simple as a pallet made of a few blankets and a ground cloth, or as elaborate as a rope bed with straw or feather mattresses.
Something to sit on can be as simple as 'the ground' or a stump, or a nice ladder back chair.
Something to put stuff in can be a pillowcase or a small trunk.
How much you want to haul and set up makes a great difference as well.
But most important--what do you wish to Do? What is your portrayal?

To be authentic? No furniture. none, nada. sleep on your ground cloth along with four of your friends, just like the soldiers in 186x did in static camps.

Pssst. (Whisper). Hey Dave --that's a lady you are talking to. Unless she's portraying a soldier and then I'm agreeing.
Really, lets take a step back. Civilians living in tents near a battlefield is an imaginary construct, except for the one or two very rare occasions where civilian refugees were housed in tents provided by the army.
So, in asking 'what furniture goes in my tent', the first question is : 'what are you imagining?'
Does your tent represent your real house? Is that how you and your friends have agreed to play?
Is your tent just a handy place to sleep and you are reenacting something else, doing some other task?
