I am proud to announce that Pt. Pleasant, Ohio will hold a one day semi-immersion Living History event. We are trying for something alittle different, and this is the perfect event for folks to hone thier skills and dust off the cobwebs of winter to start a new season.

We will be representing a Federal recruitment centre along with a refugee camp, a training center for the new recruits, and a small detained prisoner of war group representing civilian and confederates from eastern Kentucky being moved to Camp Dennison for transfer to Camp Chase, Ohio.

Civilian reenactors are encourage to take the lead roles for this event, as I have many goals both secret and overt to keep them busy throughout the day. This should lead to some interesting situations. But the military, including the prisoners will not be left out as they too have plenty to do both on and off the field.

Sound interesting, we hope it will be as this is a little experiment to further the hobby beyond the typical Living History scene at most events. All we ask is you have a good attitude and willing to work together.

There are a few minimum requirements. Federal Troops, should all be wearing period brogans, and period issue uniforms. Remember this is a recruitment, training center, so your not on campaign. You should look clean, your weapons clean. Confederates should be looking much rougher, but with plenty of blankets, and oil cloths, or dog tents. No leathers, or weapons needed. Just your clothing, period shoes, haversacks and canteens, and waist belts if you need them. No kepis. No yellow or red facings. If anything, if you have it available, civilian style entire would be best, but if you do not, then depot clothing. (jean wool).

The camp should look period, if you have any modern items they must be removed from camp. This should not be a problem as parking is nearby for those that need modern items. This is only for the hours of 9am to 5pm Saturday. If you plan to spend the night Friday or Sunday, or anytime other than the hours listed above, modern items are fine.

There are other activities going on nearby, that is not part of this living history, if you have some down time, your free to roam, but you must first clear it with the organizers, which would be me. I will be acting as Mayor, so as to move where I am needed.

For more information, or wanting to come contact me at seanapdaniel@yahoo.com. There is no charge. Firewood, water, straw, and a Fried Chicken Dinner at 5pm Saturday will be available to all that are part of this. I hope you consider coming.
