Perryville Cleanup Day, 2013
The annual cleanup day is fast approaching for Perryville. This year it's April 6th.
In past years we've cleared deadfall timber, razed old tobacco barns that weren't there in '62, tore out modern square-wire fencing, flattened post-bellum houses, cleaned trash out of Doctor's creek, and rebuilt a retaining wall along the same stream.
This year I think we are recreating a building that stood on the original site. Perhaps someone from the Western Federal Blues can verify?
Anyway. It's always a good day to give a little back to the history. The work is taxing but never exhausting, plus Joni always feeds us really well. Beyond that they cut you a 10% discount at the store and you get to see what's new at the museum for free!
Hope to see you there.
