Try your local phone company. I get all of mine free out of their scrap bin. The splices in their lines use to be covered with big lead shields. They use plastic now and whenever wrecking out old lines they do not use the lead. I located the construction yard and went there and asked. Also found a few old timer employees that had been taking lead home thinking they would make sinkers one day. I've gotten thousands of pounds this way.

MAYNARDS RULE!!
& starr's DROOL! Hence the rust.
Be careful. That stuff will give you cancer in California.
Try a tire shop that replaces tires and balances them. The hard clip on old lead wheel weights are way too hard for Minie balls, because they won't expand as fully (if at all). The soft adhesive "stick on" wheel weights are much softer lead, usually test at like an 8 or 9 on the hardness scale, which is very close to pure lead. I've cast thousands of Minies with stick on wheel weights, they shoot great. Full, firm rifling marks on recovered bullets.
I have some .58 mini balls I would sell you real cheap. Bought them for my Enfield but found that the .577s work better for me. I think I have about 15 to twenty of them. I can give you an exact number when I get home from work. Shoot me an email if you are interested.
