    Default Period ladies watch

I have for sale a period ladies pocket watch (or pendant watch), undated but absolutely accurate for the 1860s. It is an 8 jewel cylinder escapement, unmarked Swiss manufacture, key wind and key set like most period 1860s watches were. Takes a #9 key, and I will include the key.

I am almost positive the case is silver and it is tarnished on the exterior, but clean and shiny on the interior. Some silver polish will clean this up wonderfully, although I like the original patina and think it adds character. The back of the case is spring loaded, depress the little button on the top of the stem to release the case back and it pops right open. All the hinges are good and everything is nice and tight. New crystal is free of scratches or chips. The dial is perfect, no hairline cracks.

The inner case says "CYLINDRE HUIT RUBIS" which in French means it's a cylinder escapement with 8 jewels.

She runs great and keeps good cylinder time, especially for being as 120+ years old. Expect her to gain or lose about 5 minutes a day. For a period cylinder watch, particularly this small, that's respectable. I have completely disassembled, cleaned, and oiled the watch, and I've been winding it and letting it run off and on here on my desk for maybe three or four weeks, with no issues. I've decided to sell it now before I get to attached to her...

That said, I'm not a professional watchmaker, just a well-intentioned amateur who enjoys tinkering with old watches as a hobby.
