    Default WTB - Girls Dress

A fried of my son would like to attend some of our local events. Her family does not have the money to outfit her, so it will fall on us. My guess is that she would wear a womens medium. If you have some stuff you would like to get rid of, let me know measurements and I'll measure her tomorrow.

    Thanks for your help.

You are giving us mixed signals here--you are asking for a girls dress, and telling us the size is a woman's medium.

Girls' dresses button in the back. Women's dresses button in the front. Necklines, sleeves, and length are different. How old is the young lady? This determines the type of dress she wears.

She is 12, but is big for her age. She has out grown Junior sizes and is wearing womens sizes.

Thanks for the Help Mrs. Lawson.

Okay, at 12 years old, this is a child who belongs in children's clothing, no matter what her appearance or size.

Clothing is a social signal--it says 'this is a Girl. She is not of marriageable age'

Her dress buttons in the back. It can have a boat neck and even short sleeves. The length caps her knees and could go to mid calf. Her hair is worn down and can be confined with a ribbon. She can wear a pinafore to help keep her dress clean and a corded bonnet for shade. She can wear cotton or wool knee socks.

You will need a waist and chest measurement to get something to fit.

    Mrs. Lawson,
She has a 41" Chest and 40" Waist.. Can you point me to where I may find patterns? My wife may be getting laid off, and if we can't find one, maybe she can make her one....

Mrs Simpson will be along with her contact information so your wife can get full instructions.

Y'all will be using an Elizabeth Stewart Clark pattern, with adjustments for a child this size.
