    Default Coffee Grinder Sharps

For some reason (cant really explain it) this is one of my favorite guns. I know owning an original is out of the question but is anybody making repros of the Sharps "Coffee Grinder" Carbine? I googled it but came up empty. Would like it not for use in the field but for a piece to add to my collection. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!

    'morning,

No repros are available that I know of, but if you start with a '63 (no patch box), I don't think it would be that difficult to make. I've considered trying, but haven't had the cash for a project gun. And I only have one photo of an original, which isn't nearly enough information to even start.

I am aware of only one, and it was most likely a prototype. Also, the coffee mill may be a mislabel; it may actually be a grain grinder.

I too have thought of this as maybe someday a winter project gun, but now you got my gears turning.
There is a great short video of this "coffee grinder Sharps carbine" on Discovery Channel, "Sons of Guns" video that shows a real good view of both sides of the grinder unit with discription of it's history and use.
    Best of luck.

Yup, that refers to the Sons of Guns program that had the coffee grinder Sharps. The video that's on-line of that show is only a few minutes long but quite informative.

Yep thats what I am talking about! I watched that Suns of Guns episode and I also thought I saw one pop up on Pawn Stars too. They were both determined to be fakes. It seems someone out there has made them at some point if fakes are popping up. I am just starting in my serious search for one. If interested I will post info as I find it! Nightstalker I got your PM. Will reply as soon as I am home (on mobile now and its not letting me pull it up). Thanks!

Looks like it would be a good Italian seller if they did this. I would buy one. They look amazing. Even if they sold the parts, like someone said previously, to take a blank stock and fit it with one. In the latest issue of my mounted shooting magazine they had an article on the new "mini" Sharps. It looks rather cool. Of course would be a mini of the '74, but they have it in .22 WinMag, LR and Hornet, .218Bee, 30/30/Win, 44/40Win, 38/55, and .45LC. If only they could have used a cheaper round, like a plain old .22lr. The .45lc sounds cool enough, but they are getting up to almost $40 a box now.
