Default Okay, this is funny. And thank you for putting it in the Whine Cellar

The Association of Shenandoah & Sheboygan are thrilled to announce the re-enactment to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Gettysburg June 2nd to July 8th (re-enacters can stay over Monday and Tuesday the 9th and 10th if desired) at the Piggly Wiggly parking lot in Historic Winchester, Va.

"This location is pristine shopping mall, and we are lucky to get it", stated Co-chairman of AS&S, Dr Hiratio Q. Birdbath, "we are in the planning stages, but we are planning on a number of scenarios that we expect will excite the average re-enactor"

    Scenarios include:

    (Very) Little Round Top
Pickett's Charge (conducted once each Saturday and twice on the 3rd Sunday)

Early registration will be open shortly at the low rate of $85. Children 4 and under get in free with two paying parents.

"We feel this is actually a bargain when you consider that this re-enactment is 36 days long and the amenities the re-enactors will receive."

    Nothing.

"Register early", Dr. Birdbath warns, "as we might need to take some of the Confederate Camp space for more bleachers."

All proceeds will go towards the AS&S committee.

Look forward to seeing you there!!!!!

Moderator Note: Mike, it's really too bad you missed the recent writing contest on the Off Topic Boys. You would have medaled in some category or another. Alas, I felt I had to change the thread title from Your chosen one, just to avoid the inevitable spin up. At least your location avoids the permit process.
With a wink and a nod..........

LOL. And I give you bonus points for a title that parries the lock that it might have gained without it.

The lock was coming with or without that title, truth be told, but after a re-read and a hardy endorsement from the jovial Mrs. Lawson, we'll give it a whirl and start the week out with a smile and a rag to clean off the Coke I blew out on the monitor....

Will the Federals be using the usual gorilla suits with pink tu-tu's impression? And, will we be allowed to carry 4 cartridge boxes with no tins to accommodate the needed rounds?

And I'm going back to give Mike credit here

His original title was 150th Gettysburg or something close to that.

So I had to put my glasses on and squint at the iPhone, see that it was in the Whine Cellar and giggle.

Still, just a wee bit of damage control to make my life easier, or pretty soon there would be a FaceBorg page screaming about an $85 event fee and somebody would add me to the group.

Yeah, I've charged an event fee that was that high, and we still didn't break even

Once again the naval service is left high and dry. Surely some inflatable pools and rubber duckies could be set up, so us nautical types could perform the Battle of Hampton roads. LOL

I heard there was $1200 bounty for artillery. First 300 horse drawn guns get free firewood!

Let me see if I can answer some of your questions.

T.J., yes you can sleep next to Jed Clampett, but he has requested that you bring more "Apfel Korn" and your tie collection for the fashion show entitled, "Adjutants, history's snappy dressers".

Not so fast NavyGunner, as you will play a huge part in the "theoretical Thursday" series and it just so happens the Battle of Hampton Roads was on the list of planned events. We, I mean the committee, will take the crew of the Monitor and the Merrimac and each crew get to choose from two of the following:

    - Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson
    - Wild Bill Hickok
    - Two Prussian War Observers

And then play a game of field hockey in the field in front of the old Tastee Freeze.

There will be no, repeat no, bounties for Artillery this coming year as we are in the first year.

We will have a farrier on site, and his job will be to remove all shoes from horses. Those nails put an awful scratching on the asphalt.

Yes, all raffles are going as planned. The Vintage Lee/Lincoln edition of Rockem Sockem Robots is expected to be a hot ticket.

The North/South Cornhole tourney is also in the works.

The AYCE shrimp feast is still a go and will only be $40 per. We have seen some of you eat.

One issue that you should be made aware of. There are rumors that the State wants us to dig fire pits. We have tried to explain that this is "hallowed pavement", so know that we are still working the issue. But bring a pick axe just in case.
