    Default Uniform Patterns

    Hello All,

Looking for some help. I was wondering if there is a sutler or a quality supplier of uniform patterns that I could use to make myself an authentic style uniform.

Thanks in advance for the help.

There are several vendors who sell or create patterns, depending upon exactly what you're looking for (as there are more styles than you can count). Perhaps if you specified what you're looking for - Federal, Confederate, coat, jacket, trouser, etc.) someone can pipe in with an exact match for you. Your question is just too broad based to give a good answer

The best as far as authenticity come from County Cloth (Charlie Childs), but some find them difficult to use if you do not have some experience in period sewing techniques. Even experienced modern seamstresses have some difficulties in understanding these patterns, but they're hard to beat for replicating authentic goods. Homespun Patterns from James Country Mercantile off patterns based on originals, with a little better directions. Past Patterns (available from several different vendors) are also a good alternative. My best advice is to spend a little more and get a garment kit from Wambaugh, White, & Co. They offer researched, already-cut kits that come complete with thread, buttons, and some of the best directions in the business (with color photographs with each step).

Wambaugh and White, Charlie Childs, and Ben Tart ALL offer superlative reproductions in kit form. I've assembled many examples from each, and can attest to their quality.
