    Default Research Services: Census Records, Ordnance, QM, Commissiary, ect.....

    Gents,

    I know many of you enjoyed the research threads I have posted here and on the Authentic Campaigner forum in the past couple of years, so I have decided to start offering a Research Service for those interested in fine tuning their physical or first person Impressions.


    Services:

    Individual Soldier Look up: (C.S. & limited U.S.) A summary of a soldiers Complied Service Record plus Census Records and any other biographical data available that is useful for first person research. $10

    Company/Regimental Records: (C.S. only at this time) A comprehensive listing of all available Ordnance, Quartermaster, & Commissary records for a given company or Regiment. $40

    First Person Research: (C.S. & U.S. available) Census Records and other biographical information, (Slaveholding records, agricultural info, ect.) $8 per person, or $100 for a whole company.

    If you have any questions about these services or have a special request, please feel free to message me.

    Payment: I take paypal and personal checks, message me for details.

    Some examples from research I did for one of the companies portraying the 4th Texas at Maryland my Maryland:

    1st Lt. A.J. McKean:

    He was born in 1831 in Tennessee, the 1860 Census lists him as a Lawyer with a personal & real estate value of $7500. His wife Martha was born in 1836 in Mississippi, in 1860 they had two children, John M. born in 1857, and Mary, born in 1859, both in Texas. Lt. McKean is listed in the census has having one slave, a 24 year old black female.

    Thomas M. Hardeman:

    Born in 1815 in Tennessee, lived in Caldwell County Texas, which bordered Gonzales.
    Listed as a farmer with a total value of real and personal estate: $33,700
    Owned 22 slaves, 10 male, 12 female ranging in ages from 3 to 48
    Widower with 4 children, a boy 13, a girl 11, a boy 5, and a girl 3.

    Pvt. Julius Alford:

    Born in 1839 in Texas
    Lives with Father, born in 1805 in N.C. and mother born in 1808 in TN, has a younger brother aged 11 and sister aged 8
    Works as a stock keeper, father is listed as Farmer with a total estate valued at $24,840
    Family owned 4 slaves, 3 females and 1 male.
    Family owned 1700 Acres of land, 76 horses, 5 mules, 20 milk cows, 6 oxen, 200 "other" cows, 50 Pigs

    Pvt. Melvin H. Allis
    Born in 1830 in New York
    Listed occupation is School Teacher, with a personal estate of $500. Lived with a wealthy family by the name of Smith, Mr. D.E. Smith was born in CT and owned 15 Slaves

    Pvt. Samuel Baker
    Born in 1839 in Texas
    Listed occupation is a clerk, probably in his father's store. His parents were born in TN and his father was a merchant in town. Total personal and real estate valued at $13,500 with no slaves listed. Samuel was the oldest of 7 Children.

    Pvt. William Cavitt

    Born in 1843 in Mississippi, lived in next door Dewitt County Texas
    No occupation listed, lived with parents. Father born in MS, mother in AL. Family were farmers with a property value of around $15000. Family owned 7 Slaves.

    Pvt. Alonzo D. Chaudoin & Pvt. B.P. Chaudoin
    Brothers from Caldwell County Texas
    Alonzo Born in 1841, B.P. Born in 1843 in Tennessee
    Brothers lived with father and step mother, father was listed as a Doctor with a estate value of $900 with no slaves. Alonzo is listed as a student and B.P. as a farm hand.

    Pvt. Leroy Cox.
    Farmer from Gonzales County, Born in 1825 in Tennessee, wife born in 1827 in Alabama. Total estate listed at $400. No Slaves
    Four Children ages 2-9. First two born in Arkansas, last two in Texas.
