What is your unit doing for the community for the Fourth? Anything fun?

My "community" has no interest in the Civil War, so I don't do squat for them.

I'm sitting in the air conditioning at home like any sane person should be doing today.

My heart goes out to all those still without power who are boiling in this cauldron.

I agree with you. 98 in Central Kentucky with a 100+ heat index. Was supposed to attend in SE Hoosier Land outside Louisville and it was cancelled due to the forcast of 100+ temps and 110+ heat index. Glad they did, I had already canceled myself going.

Parade in the morning. A fellow actually came up to us before the parade started and told us that we are his favorite part of the whole thing. That was nice.

A "community" cannot know, or be interested in, what it has no knowledge of. Part of the reason I reenact is to try to spread some of that knowledge and interest around to individuals with little or no experience with the period. Some of that happened today.
