    Hallo!

    Silas Blair:

Not that it matters in any way,, but IMHO to "pull off" a similar blair look, one would need a body morphology where one's chest, waist, and hip measurements are faily close. Or as is sometimes used today, a "ruler" body.

But, of course, one could wear the blouse regardless. (I did.)

Basically, you're saying this works better on a scarecrow figure, huh? Although the picture you added of yourself isn't too bad. Loosen it through the shoulders and chest, give it a little better drape, and it would work. I don't think it would work for me, though.

But back to the original question. About how long was a jacket expected to last in the field? Would a soldier posses a jacket long enough to acquire a conglomeration of buttons? I could see a single replacement, maybe two, but by the time the button thread wore out, the jacket would be nearing the end of it usefulness, wouldn't it?

Only if one's goal is to look like the Blairs. (versus whatever look a particular issued or maybe private purchase garment would have on a lad).

I am on the large(4) end of usual Federal sizing issuance concepts being 5' 10" 170-175 pounds. But, I am "stocky," as my chest is 42 and waist 34.

But yes, if I were to have continued with the 63rd impression, as a private purchase garment there is the realm of possibiity that I could have had "tailored" the blouse. But, looking at the Blairs I have a suspicion that they were not "well tailored" either.

An interesting question about the expected life or achieved longevity of an issue garment versus a private purchase one.
