Looking to find either a US or CS unit around the Northern Arkansas Southern Missouri area. I've been a reenactor since 6th grade and I am 22 now and just recently out of the Marine Corps and moved to Northern Arkansas. Any units?

I would sugest the 4th MO C.S. or the 26th MO U.S. both are well established with good numbers, around twenty years for both of the units. Both are based around the Springfield/Joplin/Branson, Mo area. Both also do a good job with authenticity, yet guidelines are not so strict that you would be restricted out of the ranks with quality mainstream equipment.
The 4th also has a good webpage. You should take a look at it. I haven't checked on the 26th lately.
If you are interested I can send you both Captains emails and facebook pages.
I hope to see you at Prairie Grove, its an event that can't be missed.
Tad,
The 26th does have a website, http://26thmissouriinfantry.yolasite.com/
Site has information on the unit and contact information.
Joe Musgrove.
Tad,
Well, I'm a little shocked at Joe, I thought his entry would be to tell you about the 24th Mo (US) to which he belongs! We are a progressive unit, leaning more to authentic unit if that is what you are looking for, with guys spread all across Ark, Mo, OK and TX. Our website; http://www.24thmissouri.org/
Joe, the 1st Sergeant will counsel you later...![]()

Hello,
My name is Noah Snelson and I am the commander of the 26th Missouri Infantry (Union). A link to our website has already been posted on here. We have members all around the Ozarks. We welcome guys from mainstream to ultra progressive depending on how you like to do the hobby. We have guys that do both and somewhere in between. Typically we attend events in MO, AR, OK and TN, with a national event yearly. Tentage and powder are included in your dues. Feel free to check us out and attend a meeting or event with us. If you are looking to do confederate, might I suggest the 4th Missouri Infantry. They are out of the same area. We would be your two closest options. The 24th Missouri is located mainly out of OK and I believe a progressive only unit. Also out of OK is the US Territorial Battalion. They are a bunch of great guys and if your closer to OK I would highly suggest them. I will include some links below for you.

Might I suggest the Holmes' Brigade? We are a progressive unit based in the western half of Missouri/eastern half of Kansas. We strive to do things 'right.' If you are looking for a unit that tries new things and researches their impression, Holmes' Brigade is for you. We have a good relationship with the National Park Service (several of our members are NPS rangers)-about 3 weeks ago we had a living history event at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. This spring we were at the Pea Ridge National Battlefield for the anniversary. Last year our members decided to portray Sigel's 3rd Missouri, we all assembled the correct uniform and accouterments and participated in every significant event of the 3rd Missouri and reenactments statewide from the Camp Jackson Affair to their route at Wilson's Creek. Our website is www.facebook.com/holmesbrigade. Our next event is Lone Jack, MO (18Aug-19Aug). Another event close to you is a living history at Newtonia, MO on 28Sep-29Sep. We will also be at Prairie Grove. Hope to see you in the field.

I would have to agree with Frank that the 24 th Missouri, Www.24thmissouri.org, is a TOP NOTCH outfit. I also know that they are NOT primarily in Oklahoma as someone said previously. They have members in Arkansas, Texas, and southern Missouri as well. Just check out their website and you will see they are all about doing it right. as for the 26th I've never seen them or really heard much about them so I can't say how they are. The Holmes guys are good guys and have good standards too.
What is the sesame street thing about? Not good at posting links I guess. Hmmm
But to answer your question, with either the 24th Missouri or the Holmes brigade, which both also have a ton of prior military guys, great standards, and great people, you will be happy with either of the two.
