What would you all suggest for something close to "tow" for a more period cleaning kit.

    'morning,

Guess I've been lucky - I've always found Balistal in a bottle, rarely in a spray can.

As for tow, Jas Townsend (http://jas-townsend.com) sells it. I've not tried it for cleaning, but it's very handy for a number of other uses.

Hot soapy water. That's all you need. Save the peroxide for your hair.

People always want to get fancy, when more often than not it's the old tried and true that works best.
