    Default Looking for a Northern Unit in Northern Virginia

    I am moving to Middletown, Virginia (to a house right on the edge of the Cedar Creek Battlefield), and I want to find a northern unit to join that would welcome families. Anyone know of any in this area?

    There are others that are good, but in my humble opinion Sykes Regulars was the Federal unit to be in out in that region when I lived in Carlisle, PA (about 2 hours from DC) . A friend of mine from here in OK moved to Fort Meade, Maryland, tried 2 different units and finally went to Sykes;

    Sykes Regulars are fine fellows, but the Buffsticks, 3rd US Infantry, is the place to be. Great folks, lots of involvement with the ladies and most events within about an hour of Middletown. We will be doing the 150th Manassas at Cedar Creek in August. Plenty of loaner gear if you have a need.
