    Default oversized nipple

I am new to reenacting and was using a loner enfield armi sport. i had a problem getting the caps on the nipple. the nipple was WAY to big. when i got the cap on it, the tabs were spread apart more than I figure they should be. i could get the caps on, but it took some time. (not a good thing in battle). is this a common thing with armi sport? the overal gun was very clean actuly so it's probably no buit up residue, anyone have ideas on what is causing this, and when i get my own, anyone have a soluiton for the oversized nipple?

    What caps are you using?

I can't answer the armi issue, I have no armi weapons. If the caps are proper, and the issue IS the nipple of the cone, I suggest buying a replacement cone that has a slightly smaller nipple. Just make sure it will work with the weapon.

    'morning,

I have several Armi Sports (Enfield, '61 Springfield & several Sharps) and none of them require forcing the cap on in the manner indicated. Ditto for my EuroArms Enfield. I've used both the stock "straight" cones, and also the replacement stainless steel tapered cones (which I highly prefer, as they do spread the cap more when fired and make it easier to remove). And that's with Navy Arms caps (back when you could get them), German 4 wing, the good CCI 6 wing, the crappy CCI 4 wing, and the wingless caps.

A picture is worth a thousand words in this case - can you post an image and see what you're looking at?

    Hello ,

I agree with Ross . Post a few pics so we can better help you by seeing what exactly is going on here . If you are using Navy Arms four wing musket caps , then the problem definitely lies within the nipple on the musket . Sounds like it is definitely not the correct nipple . Someone could have maybe found something with the same thread to make work on the rifle from something that god knows what . Wouldn't be the first time I've seen some kind of rig ! Lol !!

    Happy Memorial Day
Thank you to all the veterans out there for your service .

Did you speak to the owner of the loaner gun? Did they have an answer?

Had the same problem, with a non period gun. #11 cap was too small and musket cap too big. Just changed to a standard #11 nipple, but I did get a musket nippel to replace it.
