    Default Kids shoes

Going through family gear this spring and notice my son's shoes, size 5 kids, that fit in November last, are now 2 sizes to small for him. Does anyone have any suggestions on keeping kids that grow like weeds in shoes? We make our kids own clothes, but shoes are a bit beyond mine or my wife's skill level. Any help would greatly be appreciated on this. There is no way we can get him kids brogans with the growth rate his feet are moving along at. They would be good for 1 season at best and maybe less if he has a growth spurt like he did over the winter.

Bind his feet? Get an extra job to pay for the shoes? Hand me downs? Stay alert for deals on used shoes? Age old question, pard. One without much of an answer. Went throught this with my three kids. Sooner than you think, they'll be grown. Enjoy them while you can.

    Default Shoes to Fit

Kid shoes are a problem in the hobby, as are accurate patterns and ready made clothes. My wife actually started a Yahoo listserv called "Economy and Frugality" as a venue for people to buy, sell and trade new and used civilian clothing. It's fairly active, and you might be able to find what you need. We borrowed two pairs of shoes from a woman in Ohio for our twins last year which was a great help.

    Take care,

I have to chuckle on this Tom.. I have been a member of that group for some time now. I just received about 4 or 5 posts giving me ideas on putting some shoes on the poor kids feet. Thanks for the idea and tell your wife thank you for running the group on yahoo.

If you have an Amish community nearby, find out where they buy their kid's shoes. My wife buys shoes for our Grand Kids at a place in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; where most of the customers arrive in buggies!

Buying them a few sizes too large helps. They may look like clown shoes for a while, but they get used to them (a second pair of socks helps).
My son wore size six when we started him at age 11. I bought him size nine's. They lasted him for about five years that way.
