    Default Dumb question

Would/could the moderators define "modern politics" so as to clarify what cannot be discussed or referenced on the forum?

Does the word"politics" refer to the Republican/Democrat/Independent type of politics or the interaction of individuals and organizations within the hobby that are sometimes referred to as politics?

Mon Colonel, the term "modern politics" as used in this site is a broad based term that is interchangeable with both "Republican/Democrat" type politics as well as modern reenacting politics. As moderators, we've found the most contentious posts (ones that cause the most work in smoothing feelings, streamlining thoughts, and just plain being acceptable for conversation at Mr. Szabo's dinner table are of the reenactor politics kind. We've made the conscious decision to limit those types of talks and leave them best served with the various commanders and umbrella organizations to handle.

    Yes.

    Doesn't help does it?

    The former is modern politics.

The latter tends to stray into personal attacks pretty quickly and often involves controversies that men should settle in private, because they sure can't get settled here. If something can be discussed in a reasoned manner that is constructive, we are all for it.

If the real issue is 'somebody messed in my playhouse', well no. That's what sit down meetings are for.
