Thread: Favorite Period Music

    Default Favorite Period Music

Post the titles of your favorite songs or tunes from the antebellum period or from the war. Federal, Confederate, religious, instrumental all qualify. Trying to get a good playlist together for a friend who is just now getting into living history.

    Thanks!

Default Anything 2nd South Carolina String Band!

I am with Company I, 42nd Mississippi Volunteer Infantry Reg't, My Pards and I can't get enough of 2nd South!

A few of my favorites from this group include:

    1 Dixie
    2 Southern Soldier
3 Richmond is a Hard Road
    4 Old Dan Tucker
    5 Jine The Cavalry
6 When Johnny Comes Marching Home
    7 Ring De Banjo
    8 Kingdom Coming
    9 Cumberland Gap
    10 Goober Peas

and of course, if your friend has seen Gods and Generals this band was the one that performed Bonnie Blue Flag when the Texas troops put on the show during winter camp...Classic!

Hope this helps get him started!
