Cream of Wheat, oatmeal, grits, dead skin, etc., is well and fine, but the best our unit has found is a heavy wax/grease labeled 'Old Zip gun grease' sold by the local sutlery. Some cans, however seem to have been made with a heavy hand on the wax portion, and is too hard to work. A few guys have made a mixture of beeswax and bore butter that works just fine.
Fill the chambers with powder, tamp down, then top each chamber off with a smear of the wax/grease combo. Be sure to NOT pick up a fleck of powder in the grease (you'll be able to see it), or else you'll chain fire.

After all the years of doing this I have had the best results with Cream of Wheat. I have used the Cocco Puffs/Cocco Roos in the past and have good results. Dispense with loading from flask and learn how to roll your own pistol cartridges and boxes.
