Dear Sir,
Thanks for posting this; any hike is a good hike and a Civil War hike is superb!

Seems like the Naval Academy is taking a lesson from the Boy Scouts. I've met several reenactors who have led groups of 14-18 year old teenagers on 100 mile ten-day treks through the mountains in New Mexico at Philmont Scout Ranch. I did it in 1999 and it was an experience my sons and I will never forget. Lots of parallels to campaign reenacting for sure, but not the weekend kind. You gotta get through more than a couple of days on the trail to even begin to get past the pain. Closest I ever came reenacting was at Bank's Grand Retreat in 2007 in the Kisatchi National Forest, and that was only 4 days on the trail, not 10. What I missed most wasn't good food or a soft bed, but was chairs. Or even a stool. Old man's knees I guess.
