That was a good read. Worth the time.
My wife and I toured Shiloh at the first of the month. My GGGrandfather was killed at the battle. We had a chance to follow the movements of his unit, Chalmers Brigade, up the confederate right flank. Having seen the gullies they had to move through, and having tried to walk uphill in slick soled brogans, I appreciate the difficulty it would be to fight in that area.

I was at the National Battlefield Park (Shiloh) this weekend. In addition I did a day of AoT Shiloh farb-fest
in between. No comparison, give me the real thing every time.
