Default Lee Takes Command- the Battle of Glendale

    All,

Thought I would just send this out...after week of research on this battle, that no one ever hears about, I am stunned by the fighting....I know we will be portraying the Battle of Seven Pines ( which is almost never done) and Hood's Dusk Attack at Gaines Mill ( and do we ever have the perfect land for that!), but when I really got into the nuts and bolts of Glendale...wow!

Truly nasty hand to hand, inthe Federal Batteries, time and time again....attacks, counter attacks....it was pure bedlam and then some!

After much research I believe we are best to depict the attacks along McCall's front, with the CS troops portraying Jenkins, Wilcox and if we have the numbers Kemper.

We have excellent terrain for it, even a Charles City Road!

And the Federal Batteries were advanced from the Federal lines, and were the focal point of one hand to hand fight after another....

This is going to be one memorable fight!

More information will be posted over the next several weeks at www.rearrank.com

    See you all there.

I looked at the Lee Takes Command webpage and I was curious if there are going to be any spectator battles or is this a reenactor only event?

This would be a good event to break out the rifled and smooth bore .69 M-42s and any imported big bore guns that are catching dust in the corner. I found quite a few of the .69 and foreign big bore bullets at Glendale. That area use to be a mecca for finding odd ball bullets.
